WHY PLANT-BASED NUTRITION FOR ATHLETES?#LIVENaijha speaks with Dr. Leila Dehghan, a doctor-turned nutritionist and personal trainer, based in the United Kingdom. Dr. Leila’s passion for education led her to found the PlantEd Academy, where she aims to raise awareness about the advantages of plant-based diets for creating a sustainable and healthier futureHer debilitating migraines compelled her to quit her medical career. Driven by her ethical beliefs, Dr. Leila adopted a vegan lifestyle and eventually healed her migraines by following a whole food plant-based diet. This transformation led her to pursue a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate at eCornell, affiliated with Cornell University, and a Masters of Science degree in Clinical and Public Health Nutrition from the University College of London. As an amateur martial artist, she takes a keen interest in sports nutrition and has previously contributed to a clinical handbook by authoring the chapter “Plant-based nutrition for Athletes”.Dr. Leila is now offering a fully online certified course that covers key areas of plant-based sports and exercise nutrition, including macronutrients, hydration, supplementation, recovery, sleep, and stress management. This course is ideal for healthcare professionals, dietitians, fitness practitioners, and anyone interested in supporting fitness and performance on a plant-based diet. Black Veg Society is now an affiliate of this certified Plant-Based Sports and Exercise Nutrition course. You can support the organization and our mission of meeting people where they are on their plant-based, vegan, and holistic health journey by registering to take the course using the link below:courses.plantedacademy.com/courses/plant-based-sports-and-exercise-nutrition?ref=a62190 #NaijhaSpeaks #BlackVegSociety #PlantBased #NutritionForAthletesWant to create live streams like this? Did you know this about okra? Thanks for sharing AfriThrive.Did you know that okra traveled from West Africa to America centuries ago? 🌱Enslaved Africans carried okra seeds with them, tucking them into their hair and clothing during the Middle Passage. That single act of preservation meant a food tradition survived one of history's darkest chapters.Today, okra grows at AfriThrive's Cultural Farm in Poolesville, Maryland. The same crop. The same roots. Still feeding families.Help us keep culturally relevant food growing in the DMV.
