FOOD AS MEDICINE: Healthy Holiday Hacks!
“The beauty of Food As Medicine is that the choice to heal and promote health can begin as soon as the next meal.”
Did you miss the webinar on November 12, 2022, or attended and want a replay?
Here you go!
Those who attended learned about:
- Top 5 simple strategies to use before, during, and after holiday parties and meals to stay healthy, happy, and energized.
- Swapping plant based whole food ingredients to create healthier versions of your holiday favorites.
- How to prepare simple and delicious plant-based holiday party foods. (Food Demo with Chef Karen O- Recipes included!)
Highlights and Hacks:
- One of the holiday party recipes shared was mushroom caps. Expose your mushroom caps gill side up in the sun for at least 15-minutes will increase the Vitamin D in them.
- Nutritional yeast was also used in one of the recipes shared. Nutritional yeast can be found in two forms: Fortified and Unfortified. Unfortified nutritional yeast has not been altered and contains only natural vitamins and minerals. Fortified yeast contains vitamins to boost the nutritional content of the yeast
- My three favorite ways to de-bloat and reset after holiday parties or meals:
MY MORNING LEMON ELIXIR
Take 2 cups of room temperature water, and add the juice from 1/2 a lemon, a pinch of cayenne (optional)Mix well, and sip to cleanse the body.
MY EVENING ALKALIZING CHLOROPHYLL DRINK
Add 1 tablespoon of chlorophyll to 12 ounces of water with the juice of one lemon and drink.
Note: you can buy chlorophyll at any natural food store, Whole Foods, or on Amazon.
MOVE YOUR BODY
Exercise is one of the best ways to cleanse your body and remove toxins. Try taking a brisk walk, taking a yoga flow class, hitting the gym, or going to your favorite Zumba class. Sweating helps the body to eliminate toxins through the skin. Be sure to dry skin brush and shower when you’re done.
Everyone who registered for the webinar was eligible to participate in a raffle drawing to win A Healthy Vegetarian Recipe Starter Guide with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and juice recipes.
Congratulations to our raffle winner: Michele L.!
