FOOD AS MEDICINE: Essential Nutrients and Supplements for Vegetarians and Vegans

“The beauty of Food As Medicine is that the choice to heal and promote health can begin as soon as the next meal.”

Did you miss the webinar on August 21, or want a replay?

Here you go!

Those who attended learned:

  1. Essential nutrients for vegetarians and vegans
  2. Signs and symptoms of essential nutrient deficiencies
  3. Primary causes of essential nutrient deficiencies
  4. Highest plant-based food sources of essential nutrients
  5. Key supplements required
  6. How to assess your essential nutrient status so you can create a food and supplement plan based on your unique bio-individual needs.

Highlights and Hacks:

  • A well-planned diet can meet all the nutrient needs of vegans and vegetarians.
  • Some nutrients, however, might be harder to get enough of than others. Such is the case with vitamin B12 and vitamin D.
  • If nutrient needs cannot be met through diet alone, dietary supplements are an option to explore. High quality multi-vitamins that have the right ratio of nutrients is a good start.
  • It’s best to speak with your healthcare provider or qualified practitioner before adding any supplements to your diet if you know or suspect you are below therapeutic levels for optimal health.

Everyone who registered was eligible to participate in a raffle drawing to win A Vegan Starter Kit: Everything You Need To Know About Plant Based Eating by Dr. Neal D. Bernard, New York Times Best Selling Author. Congratulations to our raffle winner:  Briana McCord!
